  • Cannot edit titles

    Just installed MC5.0.2.

I am trying to edit the text in a previously created title. When I open the title tool my shift key and space bar are disabled. The only way round it is to reboot. Can anyone help?

So far this is the most annoying of the many bugs in MC5. If anyone is thinking of upgrading - DON'T it is simply awful.

  • MC's Lame 2 Gig AVI export limit has put me in a pickle...

I am trying to complete a recovery and uprez of some 20 plus year old video... and, to this I at the point in the workflow where I need to export the Cineform AVI clip that is 120 mins. long.

Unfortunately, MC (and all it's wisdom) limits the output of AVI files to 2 Gigs... now, I am stuck with a AVI Cineform AMA linked clip that has been rendered to accomodate a MC BCC uprez plug in... and... I can not export this as an AVI file.

Also, I can't use a Cineform MOV file because MC doesn't recognize the codec (well...at least I can't find any way to create a Cineform MOV file).

Any suggestions as to how to export a cineform in AVI file format (or, MOV if any knows how to make this happen).  BTW, doing this in 2 Gig segments for a uncompressed 120 min long/124Gig sized video would take forever....

BTW, cineform is needed because this video is going to be used in an Adobe and MC cross editing environment.  Not to mention using the same codec should help maintain the quality level of a piece of video that already has the typical degradation problems of a 20 year old VHS video plus added stability of any color corrections.

How do you overcome MC's 2 Gig AVI limit when exporting in a Cineform AVI file codec... or, is there a way to use Cineform's MOV option with MC5?

  • batch renaming of imported proxy clips

    Hi there avid community,

is there someone out there who can tell me if there is an easy ( less time consuming ) way of renaming clips in MC?

In a project we are doing at the moment we need to import the proxy files from about seven to 12 xdcam discs every day and the client has requested us to rename the clipnames (C0000...etc.).

This involves the renaming of around 400 to a thousands clips using ctrl+v and enter. Which ovbiously is not only very tedious but also potentially rsi enducing.

    thanks in advance,

    Eric

  • Avid Media Composer 5.0 with Matrox MX02 Mini issues

Hi. We are having issues with our mx02 mini and avid media composer 5.

We have installed all the correct drivers for the matrox, and have done all the relevant updates. Avid is just not seeing the mini.

Our card is in PCI card slot 4 which is the ( X4 Performance slot).

We were told to download the original matrox software 1.0 and then do a software update, this also did not work.

We are running avid media composer 5.0 with an avid adrenaline box.

I hope someone can help us.

    Thanks

  • What resolution in Video Mixdown?

    MC5

The Project Type is 1080i-50, Raster is 1440x1080

My clips (captured), give in the Info that they are in HDV 1080i (1080i/50).

When I do a Video Mixdown, MC5 defaulted to a resolution of DNxHD-TR 120 MXF. That would create a diskfile of 1167 MB for the part I want to make a Video Mixdown.

When I choose the resolution HDV 1080i MXF, the size is (only) 240 MB.

What is here the best choice and why?

I can't see a difference on my PC monitor for both Video Mixdowns. But ny eyes could be a little old by now.
